INNV-25. ASSESSING SLEEP AND CIRCADIAN RHYTHMS IN PRIMARY BRAIN TUMORS PATIENTS: AN OBSERVATIONAL STUDY

چکیده

Abstract Sleep-wake disturbances are among the most common and severe symptoms in primary brain tumor (PBT) patients. Currently, no studies have quantified their physiological sleep measurements or compared these assessments to established patient reported outcome measures (PROs). Smart wearable devices, such as Fitbits, continuously monitor behaviors at home provide detailed of sleep, activity, heart rate. We hypothesized that smart devices can accurately determine circadian disruptions will complement PROs a PBT population. This observational, cross-sectional trial monitors rhythm variables using Fitbit worn for 1 month. Additionally, participants answer questionnaires (PROMIS Sleep Disturbance Related Impairment-Short Forms, Hygiene Index, Morningness-Eveningness questionnaire, Consensus Diary) study entry during last week on-study. The present is planned interim analysis 54 patients assess feasibility, including evaluation enrollment, attrition, parameter completion data missingness. 73 were screened approached. Of patients, (74%) enrolled on 19 (26%) declined participation (8 lacked interest, 3 discomfort wearing watches, phone, 2 unable wear device work, attend consent calls, pregnancy cognitive complication). accrued 56% male, 56%³ 50 years age, 81% had KPS³ 90. Patients represented different stages treatment: 6% newly diagnosed, 24% active treatment (11% 1st recurrence, 13% 2nd recurrence), 70% imaging surveillance. Feasibility was confirmed there deviations 100% timepoints completed. Quantified percent time physiologic parameters be reported. Study enrollment efficacy continues.

Circadian rhythms, sleep, and metabolism.

The discovery of the genetic basis for circadian rhythms has expanded our knowledge of the temporal organization of behavior and physiology. The observations that the circadian gene network is present in most living organisms from eubacteria to humans, that most cells and tissues express autonomous clocks, and that disruption of clock genes results in metabolic dysregulation have revealed inter...

Melatonin, Circadian Rhythms, and Sleep.

Experimental data show a close relationship among melatonin, circadian rhythms, and sleep. Low-dose melatonin treatment, increasing circulating melatonin levels to those normally observed at night, promotes sleep onset and sleep maintenance without changing sleep architecture. Melatonin treatment can also advance or delay the phase of the circadian clock if administered in the evening or in the...

Sleep and circadian rhythms in space.

This paper presents a detailed critical review of the knowledge accumulated in the last three decades concerning research on sleep, work-rest schedules, and circadian rhythms in space. The focus of the paper is preceded by a brief review of the basic principles of the human circadian system and the physiology of the sleep-wake cycle, relevant to understanding the problem of astronaut work-rest ...

Circadian Rhythms and Sleep in Drosophila melanogaster.

The advantages of the model organism Drosophila melanogaster, including low genetic redundancy, functional simplicity, and the ability to conduct large-scale genetic screens, have been essential for understanding the molecular nature of circadian (∼24 hr) rhythms, and continue to be valuable in discovering novel regulators of circadian rhythms and sleep. In this review, we discuss the current u...
